It's Getting To That Time of the Year

That's right. Baseball season is just around the corner and spring training is right at our doorsteps. Finally we will get to shed a little bit of light on the talent the Yankees have acquired this off-season and how it will stack up against the drastically changed Boston pitching staff. Here is a list of worth-mentioning start dates for the Yankees:

  • February 14 - Pitchers and Catchers report (Valentine's Day!)
  • February 15 - First workout
  • February 19 - Position Players report (Presidents' Day)
  • February 20 - First full workout
  • March 1 - First spring training exhibition game (against the Twins)
  • March 12 - Yankees exhibition game at Boston
  • April 2 - Yankees Home Opener (against Tampa Bay)
Unlike last season where the Yankees' first games were on the road out west (starting against the Oakland A's I believe) the Yankees are starting this season at home against Tampa Bay. It should be fun. Single game tickets go on sale this Wednesday, January 31, at 10AM.

The 2007 Spring Training Reporting Dates are slightly different for all teams so be sure to check that site if you are a brother from another mother. The Mets' schedule is a day or two behind the Yankees in terms of reporting for spring training.

MLB.com reports that the Yankees will be hosting Interleague games against 3 NL teams: Mets (Subway Series), Pirates, and D-Backs (Randy). The dates when Boston comes to the Bronx are April 27-29, May 21-23, and Aug. 28-30.
