YANKEES: Johnson to Arizona?

According to Peter Abraham's, a Yankees beat writer for The Journal News and LoHud.com, "The Diamondbacks have requested a 72-hour window to negotiate with Johnson and that could be granted today according to several people close to the situation. The team wants to structure a deal for Johnson in 2008 and restructure $40 million in deferred payments Johnson is owed from his previous stay with the team."

Simply put, Randy Johnson is off vacation (from Hawaii... nice!) and the Diamondbacks have taken the initiative to negotiate with Johnson regarding a restructuring of his contract to include a deal for 2008. This is a giant step forward toward getting the trade completed.

No word yet on who is included in the trade (from Arizona's side) but a 72-hour window to negotiate could possibly mean that the players have already been agreed to.
