YANKEES: Johnson Offically Gone

Randy Johnson is officially with the Arizona Diamondbacks and the four respective players have been handed over to the Yankees. This has been seen as a fair trade for both sides though I can't help but think the Yankees walked away with a steal on this one. Though the Yankees didn't get any of the D-backs best prospects, they still obtained four workable players, including Luis Vizcaino, who is in the majors. They also managed to only send $2 million to Arizona, saving $14 million dollars this upcoming season on this trade alone.

Of course, they are also the intangibles... freeing up a spot for Clemens or giving another Yankee a shot, and ridding the club of Johnson's personality, which Clemens clearly dislikes.

To Arizona's credit, their division/league is much less competitive than what Johnson would face if he had stayed with the Yankees, and they should get somewhat of a better performance if his back heals fine.
