YANKEES: Johnson Deal Expected

A high-ranking Diamondbacks official told USA Today that the trade for Randy Johnson will get done this week. The clubs have reportedly agreed on the players in the deal and the Yankees are expected to receive one major league reliever and two minor league pitchers. Getting three players in the deal suggests that the Yankees have agreed to pay a substantial part of Johnson's $16 million salary for 2007.

The contract extension has not yet been agreed upon but expect there to be a drop from what he received in '07. The D-backs also still owe Johnson $40 million from when he played with them from '99-'04. They are looking to include that somehow in the newly-structured contract that he is being given.
